The HydroFlex 35-3 Deep Water Housing was developed as a reflex 35mm high speed underwater camera system. The housing was designed to fit a stock Arri 35-3 camera with a video tap and Zeiss, Cooke, or Panavision lenses. Various spherical and anamorphic lenses can be utilized in conjunction with interchangeable dome or flat ports to provide a full range of options underwater, on the surface, or on a wet set. External controls are provided for iris, focus and video power. Internally mounted lights can be switched on to read f-stop, focus and footage counters. Multiple 3/8-16 holes top and bottom and our mounting accessories allow easy rigging to jib arms, dollys and cranes. Additional features include remote camera run, projector interlock capability, and a 6.4" color underwater video viewfinder. When the video tap is used in conjunction with an underwater speaker system, a director can view a thru-the-lens image plus maintain communications with a crew below. For above water filming in rain or wet sets, an optional lens port spray deflector system shoots air across the lens area, keeping drops of water from registering on the film. The viewfinder port is at the back of the housing which puts the cameraperson (operator) looking straight ahead, allowing the camera to be a straight extension of your eyesight, a natural position for handheld filming. Our custom reflex viewfinder offers a very easy-to-locate large, bright image with a lot of eye relief. "Missing the shot" is not an issue because you do not have to hunt for the image. Easy to read iris and focus knobs, both on the camera left side of the housing, can be viewed by the operator even while looking through the lens. Weight distribution has been modified to make tilt up shots easier and the two parallel handles have been improved for a more comfortable grip. |
