Conceived with feature and television production in mind, the HD950 RAC (Remote AquaCam) is designed primarily for the Sony HDW-F950 & 900, Fujinon 13 x 4.5 Cine lens and Preston focus, iris and zoom lens controls. The F950 captures and encodes every Green, Red and Blue sample (4:4:4) into a dual stream signal. This signal is more durable in post production and you will see the difference from 4:2:2 when doing visual effects or doing blow-ups of original material.

Simplicity was our goal for the set-up and operation of the HD950 RAC. Camera, lens and lens motors are absolutely stock. No modifications, no add-ons and nothing to take off or rotate. Camera controls and power are provided via a fiber optics cable from the surface and you never need to change a tape or a battery. Once the camera and lens are installed and the lens motors calibrated, the system is ready for continuous operation with full function camera and lens control. A witness camera with a 2.5” monitor mounted on the Preston hand unit is incorporated into the design providing the camera assistant with the lens data to assure critical focus. Even though the HD RAC was designed for the Sony HDW-F950 the elliptical shape will fit the Sony HDW-F900, virtually all Betacams, plus the Panasonic Varicam and Thomson Viper.

Hydro-dynamically speaking the HD950 RAC’s elliptical shape allows the camera to glide through the water making it the perfect mate for HydroHead to get those above and below, tracking and crashing through the water shots. Hand held the HD RAC performs as well as our 35-3 and 435 Remote AquaCams. Both flat and dome ports are provided with no vignetting with the Fujinon lens at 4.5mm.

Zeiss Digi Primes, the Fujinon 13 x 4.5 ENG style lens and other ENG lenses can also be accommodated without and modifications to the lenses whatsoever.
