Veteran underwater cinematographer and documentarian Peter Zuccarini went on assignment to Volcano Island in the South Pacific for Buena Vista Television. After returning from the job, he honored HydroFlex¨ with this letter describing his use of our equipment: May 19, 1998 Dear Pete, Enclosed production stills are from "Sharks of the Volcano Island", a one hour wildlife special produced by Buena Vista Television. We are working in extremely remote areas of the Pacific Ocean and have felt privileged to work with your equipment. The Hydroflex Deepwater Housing system allows us to dive deep for schools of hammerheads, stay focused on chaotic shark feeding behavior, and stealthily approach shy humpback whales. Our project relies on the juxtaposition of the abundance of rich life underwater set against the harsh inhospitable terrain of an island formed by volcanic eruption. The interchangeable port system of the Hydroflex Deepwater Housing makes it possible to illustrate this contrast quite literally, as the shots move delicately in and out of the water, revealing the beauty of both marine and terrestrial elements. As large ocean swells pound the coastline and flush through the tidepools, we appreciate the bombproof quality of the Hydroflex Deepwater Housing. With this equipment, we photographically transform this salty, destructive force into elegant sea foam flowing over the lens and across jagged rock, once a flow of molten lava. "Hydroflex was there." Thank you, Pete, for making available a camera system that encourages cameramen to swim, compose and make art underwater. Sincerely, Pete Zuccarini |
