"The USS Arizona and the memorial are a national symbol of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. As an underwater cinematographer I was afforded a once in a lifetime opportunity to dive the Arizona for Michael Bay’s feature film "Pearl Harbor". Because the Arizona is considered a tomb, we could not enter the interior spaces out of respect. Of the 1,177 crewmembers that died in the attack, only a few hundred were retrieved. Water visibility at the site was limited to 8’ to 12’."
