RemoteAquaCam Mk5
The Remote AquaCam Mk5 is the latest and most advanced generation of underwater housings from HydroFlex.
Nicknamed the “Swiss Army Knife” of underwater camera housings, the Mk5 can fit more than 30 different cameras and accepts a wide variety of professional cine lenses from ARRI, Angeniuex, Cooke, Leica, Panavision, Zeiss & more.
The MK5 can be handheld or mounted on an underwater remote head. Utilizing either an ARRI or Preston remote lens control system, the focus puller adjusts iris and zoom and pulls focus from viewing
a large monitor from a dry location.
Block batteries supply power to the camera from the surface and can shoot for hours without pulling the housing out of the water. Internal batteries maintain power to the camera when switching topside batteries.
With the optional HydroFlex underwater ethernet cable, the assistant has full remote camera control.
The HydroFlex Mk5 kit comes with trim weights to be able to reach the ideal buoyancy and balance which is key to camera stability and balance.
The MK5 offers four types of dome and flat ports;
1) The Standard HydroFlex Dome Port. This is the same as the domes HydroFlex had designed and fabricated for the Cousteau Society’s 35mm underwater cameras and has been an industry standard for many years with hundreds of credits on major blockbuster films.
2) The 250mm Dome Port. Using the 250mm dome port is an advantage because of the 250mm dome’s larger diameter, lenses do not need close focus as much to focus on the aerial image created by the dome port.
3) The Standard HydroFlex Flat Port. This comes standard with the RAC housings. Used underwater for close ups with longer focal length lenses underwater, for above water shooting, “split level” or when a shot goes from underwater to above water shooting or above water to underwater.
4) The Large Flat Port for RAC. With the proliferation of larger sensors and lenses with wider acceptance angles, the Large Flat Port may be necessary as an add-on.
